Birthday Party Prep!

I hope you are enjoying the "12 Months of Ava" posts! I tried to upload pictures with them, but blogger is not cooperating. I will add pictures as soon as I can, though! These posts have been a lot of fun so far! They have brought back lots of memories! Stay tuned for the rest of the months. I will try to upload those daily now until I finish (which will be on Ava's birthday)!

We are having a great week so far. I am spending this week preparing for her birthday party Saturday. We are having a family party! It is going to be at 10:00, and I am planning on having "brunch" foods. We are having breakfast casserole, cheese grits, muffins, fruit, sausage balls, biscuits. Of course we will have cake and ice cream, too! I am SUPER excited about Ava's cake....it's going to be precious! I can't wait to post pictures of it! I have also been working on decorations and stuff. I almost got teary eyed going through the party store the other day. I just can't believe my baby is about to be 1. It truly does fly by!

We have been doing really well with our menu! While we LOVE to eat out, we really need to limit this! We still go once or twice a week, and that is SO much better than how we used to be! Well, I hope everyone has a wonderful evening!

12 Months of Ava: Month THREE

In the third month of motherhood, Ava gave to me:

A Wonderul Baptism!!!

Ava was baptized June 22, 2008, and what a wonderful day it was! She was baptized by her father at Morton First United Methodist Church! She was absolutely precious that day! She did not make a sound during the baptism, and she was beautiful in her pretty dress if I do say so myself! She had smiled many times before this, but this is the first time I remember her just "going to town" smiling! After the service, the pastor had us go to the back door to greet people, and she smiled at EVERY PERSON who walked out that door! It made me melt! Still does even thinking about it! After her baptism, we had lunch and fellowship with people from the church. It was a day we will treasure FOREVER!!!

In the third month of motherhood, Ava gave to me:

A Wonderful Baptism
A Big Move to a New Town
A Family of Three!

12 Months of Ava: Month Two

In the second month of motherhood, Ava gave to me:

A Big Move to Another Town!

We moved from Belzoni when Ava was only 7 weeks old! This was a VERY busy time for us. We were trying to get used to parenthood as well as finish packing up our house. Fortunately, Ava has always been an absolutely WONDERFUL baby!!! We couldn't ask for a better baby. She pretty much slept long stretches at night, and had put herself on a good schedule.

We went to church for the first time the week before we moved. The week we moved was bittersweet, but as I have said before it went very well!

The second month of motherhood Ava gave to me:

A big move to another town.
A family of three!

12 Months of Ava: Month One

In the first month of motherhood, Ava gave to me:

a family of THREE!!!

Wow! It's crazy how you go into the hospital as 2 and come out as 3. We went to the doctor on May 5th for my 37 week check-up and ultrasound. We went to the ultrasound first and found out that my fluid was low. We went on to my actualy doctor's appointment, and she explained to me how they do not wait for you to go into labor in situations as I was in. She informed us that we would induce that Wednesday (May 7th). We were super shocked...I just knew I would be a week or so late! :) Keith and I headed to Babies-R-Us to buy last minute things and made lots of phone calls to our friends. We spent Tuesday doing last minute things to get ready, and I had to go up to my school to tell my kids "goodbye" and tie up a few loose ends. I had a HUGE steak that night, and we got up the next morning VERY EARLY in order to be at the hospital at 5:30 am. To make a long story short, I was just not progressing. Therefore, my doctor decided a c-section was our only option at about 4:00 that afternoon. Ava was born at 4:44 weighing 6 punds 2 ounce and measuring 19.5 inches long, and changed our lives in so many ways that we never knew possible!!!

The rest of the hospital stay was uneventful. We just enjoyed loving on Ava and visiting with people who came to see us.

We were released on Saturday, May 10th! We then went home to start our new lives with our precious Ava!

So there you have it! In the first month of motherhood, Ava gave to me a family of three!!!

Menu Monday

Monday: Leftovers
Tuesday: Breakfast Casserole (We substituted this for something else last week)
Wednesday: Church Dinner
Thursday: Spaghetti
Friday: Leftover Spaghetti
Saturday: Ava's Birthday Party :)
Sunday: Chicken Tenders, Potatoes

We did really well with eating at home last week! I am so proud of us. :) Hopefully this week will go just as well!

Menu for This Week

So we are AWFUL about going out to eat...just awful. I am embarrassed to say how much we eat out. To try to stop eating out so much, I have decided to sit down at the beginning of each week and plan out the menu for the week. I started this week, and so far we are doing great! Yes, I realize it's only Tuesday...ha.

Anyway, here's what we are eating for the week (I only planned dinners because we usually tend to ourselves/eat leftovers for lunch):

Monday: Leftover Red Beans and Rice from Sunday.
Tuesday: Pork Chops, Homemade mac and cheese, and crescent rolls.
Wedneday: Church dinner
Thursday: Breakfast casserole
Friday: Leftover breakfast casserole
Saturday: Out of town.
Sunday: Spaghetti

I'll let you know how this goes :)

Wallpaper and Painting

We painted our dining room last night and started taking down wallpaper in the kitchen. I think Keith will tell you that wallpaper is from the devil! He was up until about 3 this morning taking it down, and still has about a fourth of the kitchen to finish. As soon as he finishes that, I plan on painting the kitchen....any color suggestions???

We made it back yesterday from visiting my family. We had such a good time (as always). Wednesday night, we went to Paula Deen's restaurant in Tunica...It was great. I will definately eat there again. Thursday, we just relaxed around the house, and Thursday night we ate dinner at the house. We left after lunch yesterday, and my dad's plane left for Montana at 6 this morning....so sad. However, he only has 6 weeks until he will be home for good....hooray! For those of you who don't know, my dad is the principal at a school in Montana...My mom taught there last year, but didn't want to teach this year, so she has been spending time here and in Montana.

Well, I hope everyone has a great day!

Easter 2009

Happy Birthday Caleb!

Ava's friend, Caleb, is 1 today! His mom, Elizabeth, and I went to college together and have stayed really good friends ever since! It is so cool to me that we have children so close in age. This picture is from his "farm" birthday party Saturday! We had a great time! Happy Birthday sweet Caleb!

In other news, we have been busy! Easter was great, and Ava looked beautiful in her dress. I will have to post pictures soon! We are getting new floors tomorrow, so I have been trying to get the house ready for that. Ava and I will go to Pope to my parents' house tomorrow, and Keith will join us Thursday! Tomorrow is my birthday, so my mom ordered a birthday cake for me to have when I get there...I LOVE birthday cake...it is a major weakness of mine!

Tonight, I am getting together with some girls from our church for "girls' night." We are having a Mexican Theme complete with lots of food and bunko! I am so excited--I had a bunko group in Belzoni, and I am glad we have decided to get a group together once a month here. It will be fun!

Well, I am finished rambling for today! I hope everyone has a great afternoon.

Church Egg Hunt

We went to the egg hunt at our church last weekend! Even though Ava didn't actually hunt eggs, we had a lot of fun. There was a petting zoo with baby goats and bunnies--Ava wasn't too sure of them! She still had a lot of fun, though!

11 Months

Ava is 11 months old today! Wow! I can't believe it....I don't know where time goes.

*She is now crawling EVERYWHERE pulling up on EVERYTHING! It keeps Keith and me busy, but it is so much fun.
*She can wave and say "bye bye"!
*Loves to clap!
*Still LOVES her puffs!
*She has said "mama" a few times, but still likes to say "dada" better :)
*Going out to eat has gotten a little hard! She can get VERY loud!
*One of her favorite games is dropping something from her highchair and making one of us pick it up.
*She loves to squeal.
*Her favorite toys are her singing nursery rhyme book, her "playhouse", and her singing chair/desk! She squeals and gets SO excited everytime we get them out for her!
*Loves digging in her toybox to find fun toys!

She is doing lots of other fun things, but that is really all I can think of for now. I will try to post some 11 month pictures soon!

Hope everyone is doing great!
