Life So Far as a Family of 4

We are doing really well since bringing Kate Rivers home from the hospital. I can't believe she is only five days old. It seems like she has been with us for much longer. She is such a blessing to our family. I am so blessed with my sweet little girls and a wonderful husband.

Ava is adjusting quite well. She has shown no real signs of jealousy yet. I hope that continues. She seems to really like the baby, and she has been such a good help! Adjusting from 1 to 2 has really been MUCH easier than I thought it would be--maybe we'll entertain the idea of having a 3rd baby! :)

Kate Rivers is also doing well. She hasn't "woken up" yet, though. She has been pretty easy so far since she sleeps most of the time right now. We took her back to the hospital yesterday for her 2 day checkup, and she has gained 1 ounce since we left the hospital. Yay! I was worried that she may have lost some more weight, but she seems to be doing well. She is just perfect. I could stare at her all day!

As for me, I am doing well. My hormones are a little crazy right now, though. It's not severe by any means. Things just aren't back to normal right now, and I am having a hard time settling into a routine. I can't lift Ava right now, so that is kind of hard. I don't want her to feel neglected, and I miss spending so much time with her. I do try to spend as much time playing with her as I can. I just feel a little out of sorts trying to adjust to our new normal. I will be glad when I can get out more, and we can get into a little more of a routine so to speak. I know it will come with time, though! :)

We are taking Kate Rivers' newborn pictures tomorrow. I can't wait to see how they turn out! Keith is going back to work Tuesday, so my mom will be here Tuesday-Thursday. I can't wait for her to be back! :) I love having her here.

Well, I hope everyone has had a great weekend! I just wanted to give everyone an update on our new family of 4!

Hey From the Hospital!

Kate Rivers Keeton was born yesterday at 12:22pm. She weighed 6 pounds, 13 ounces and was 19.5 inches long. She is perfect, and we already love her so much! :) We are so blessed! I will post pictures soon!

3 Days!

Tuesday is the big day! I can't believe we only have 3 days until we meet Kate Rivers.

I am finished with work until late October. This past week was really hard with trying to work, get ready for the new baby, etc. However, I made it. My feet have been so swollen, but at least there is an end in sight. I am actually afraid that I am going to miss being pregnant. We are thinking this may be our last baby, but we'll see on down the road!

I am anxious to see how Ava will react to having a baby sister. I don't think she quite realizes there is going to be a baby in the house. She has no idea how much her little life is about to change, but it will be a good thing! :)

I will keep everyone updated over the next few days!

Back to School

Well, school starts back for the kids tomorrow. I got to meet my class Friday at Open House. I really think I am goig to have a great group of kids and parents! :) I can't wait to get to know them all! I wouldn't be telling the truth if I said I did not have the first day jitters. I think every teacher gets a little nervous before the first day of school! I will actually be glad to have this first WEEK behind me. The first week is always so hectic. It'll be great though!

I am a little overwhelmed with school starting and trying to get ready for the baby at the same time. I don't have as much done around the house as I had hoped, but that's ok. It WILL get done! At least that's what I keep telling myself. I have also been trying to organize as much as possible at school so everything will be in order before I am out for my maternity leave. I have a GREAT long term sub, so I am excited about that.

Pregnancy is still going great! I feel WONDERFUL! Hopefully that feeling will last. I have really been blessed with such an easy pregnancy. My c-section date is August 24th, so only 2 weeks to go...wow! :) I have a doctor's appointment Wednesday. I will try to give an update afterwards!

I can't do a whole post without mentioning sweet Ava. She is great! She has started potty training a little. We are not there yet, but getting close! I am proud of her. She has also done great in her new room and her "big girl" bed. The switch couldn't have gone smoother. I will have to post some pictures of her soon!

I hope everyone has a great week!

This and That

My summer is quickly winding down, and it has made me one busy person!

First of all, not much to report on pregnancy, which is good at this point! I went to the doctor this past week, and everything is looking good! I had a sonogram, and the baby looks great! I turned 35 weeks yesterday, and I am still feeling pretty good. I am tired and starting to ache some, but besides that I am great! I go back to the doctor in 2 weeks. I will be right at 37 weeks when I go back!

I can't believe how close it's getting! We have been so busy trying to get everything ready. We switched Ava to a toddler bed in a new room, and the transition has been SO smooth....praise the Lord! The nursery is slowly getting there, but I feel like I still have a lot to do to get it ready. I am just trying to take it one day at a time!

I have also been trying to get my plans done for my maternity leave. I found out this past week that I am going to have an AWESOME sub in my room, and that makes me feel SO good! I am hoping to get the basic plans done by tomorrow, and add a little more detail as needed next week. Speaking of next week, I can't believe I go back to school MONDAY. The summer has gone so fast. The students do not come in until the 9th, so that is good that I have a little more time to prepare for them.

I just wanted to give an update on what's going on with us. I will try my best to do better with updating a little more frequently. I want to be able to look back at the blog in the future to help me remember! :)

Have a great weekend!

30 Week and 31 Week Update

It's been awhile! We were out of town last week, and this is my first chance to really get to post. I figured I might as well just combine my 30 and 31 week update.

Everything is going great. My c-section is scheduled for August 25th (8 weeks from yesterday). I am feeling great, and I have been loving the fact that it has been a little cooler this week.

I am trying not to stress out about the fact that we have SO much to get done....my summer break is sneaking away from me, and I hoped to have a lot marked off my "to-do" list before school starts for me on August 2nd-I am not sure that's going to happen though.

Originally, we were going to keep Ava in her crib and buy a new one for the baby. HOWEVER, she is about to the point where she can climb out of her crib, so we figured it would just be safer to go ahead and switch her to a toddler bed. I ordered it yesterday, and it should be in the next couple of weeks. She will be switching beds and rooms. We plan to go ahead and make this transition as soon as the bed comes in. The baby will just use the crib Ava is in now, and the nursery will stay where it is. However, I did get the baby new bedding so I will be decorating the nursery just a little different than it is now. I think that will actually cut down on some of the work we were going to have to do, though.

I have also got to get in my classroom in the next couple of weeks. I want to get it ready as soon as possible so I won't have to worry about that later. I WILL go back to school the first few weeks...I will probably work up until I have the baby. I want to have as much time at home with the new baby as possible. :)
